Dianna Russini Says She Is Open To The Idea Of A Super Bowl Taking Place Outside Of The United States
On today's Pardon My Take... DIANNA RUSSINI! The Senior NFL Insider for The Athletic joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter on today's show to talk Free Agency, NFL Combine, Scoop City, and more.
There are plenty of rumors that circulate around the National Football League on a daily basis, and one of them involves the potential of a future Super Bowl taking place in... LONDON?! That's right, it's a conversation that seems like it is hard to avoid at this point.
With the addition of international football games taking place in different countries throughout the course of the season, it seems like the NFL in Europe isn't going anywhere. And if that is going to continue being the case, could the biggest game in America actually end up taking place outside of America one day? Russini is open to the idea of it. Big Cat and PFT? Not so much. Take a look...
Personally, the first and biggest hurdle I see that would be an issue if the NFL wanted to pull the trigger on this would be the time of the game. I'm not worried about the logistics, Radio Row, hospitality, etc. London is more than qualified to pull that side of the event off.
But if we are prioritizing American football fans, how would you keep the 6:30 kickoff? You can't have the game begin at roughly midnight local time. So, would an evening kickoff in London really mean we would watch the Super Bowl in the afternoon? That would certainly be strange to say the least.
Although this idea wouldn't happen for a very, very, very long time, the fact that it seemingly has some legs is wild to see. I'll believe it when I see it.
