As A Guy With Horrific Car Luck, I Sympathize With The Owner Of This Car Getting Their Door Snapped Off In The Most Unlikely Way Possible

I often have the worst luck with cars. On a first date I pulled up to her house, and obviously got out to ring the bell and then open the door for her #somethings and when we both got in the car it wouldn't start. Her dad had to jump me. For an entire summer our family second car would overheat when my brothers and I would leave our summer job. We also had to go up the steepest hill on the island which would only worsen the conditions. We had to jack up the heat in the car to try to neutralize it. Brutal. Another time after driving home with my brother we lost all the power steering fluid like 5 blocks away and I had to turn the wheel harder than ever just to make it home. We pulled into the spot in front of our house and it sounded like an animal was dying with the sound coming out of the car and the rest of the fluid leaking out. Horrific.

So safe to say I haven't had great luck with cars. I saw this video and had so many things running through my head. One, I was shocked it wasn't me this happened to. Just worst of the worst luck. I also couldn't believe it happened in general. I then thought about the person who's car it is and how "get the fuck out of here" their response must have been when the shop called them. Like no fucking way you're telling me you backed up my car by mistake and blew the door off. Impossible. Would demand to see the video. I also thought about the guy who had to make this call. Do they automatically make the newest guy make the call? Brutal phone call.

Finally I thought about this. This shop should actually do everything they can to never let this get out and even try to never tell the owner of the car (if possible). Now this is complete scumbag behavior but if you can avoid having to tell someone your staff is so stupid they blew a door off a car because they forgot it was in reverse you do it. Now that may be impossible because chances are the car owner was just in for a small fix or an oil change etc. But if the owner wasn't there and they were going to be without the car for a few days, I think you roll the dice and say "the parts are taking longer than expected" and just keep them waiting. They'll be pissed, but not nearly as pissed as having to tell them the real story. I'd roll the dice, but that's just me.
