The First Look At 'Andor' Season 2 Is Here, And Even The Weird Trailer Music Can't Bring My Hype Levels Down

We're two months away from the premiere of the second/final season of 'Andor' starring Diego Luna, and we just got our first trailer for it featuring the return of Saw Gurrera, Mon Mothma, Luthen Rael, Cassian himself, and many more. Visually, it's stunning, and looks like a bigger/badder version of Season 1 - to be expected after the massive budget increase....

....visuals aside, though? Weeeeird song choice. I don't HATE it as much as many others (and I actually like the idea of a rock n' roll Star Wars trailer) but it just didn't totally fit, and felt like a tonal clash for sure. I would've preferred something more John Williamsy personally. Still, though, my hype for this is at maximum overdrive. No amount of weird trailer rock can change that.

I think 'The Mandalorian' is probably the most successful Disney Plus Star Wars project, considering the success of Grogu merch alone, and 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' or 'The Book of Boba Fett' are probably the most nostalgic Disney Plus Star Wars projects, considering the return of two truly iconic characters, but most Star Wars fans I've talked to would agree that quality-wise - it hasn't gotten much better than 'ANDOR.

Tony Gilroy's spinoff-prequel-to-his-spinoff-prequel wound up being an incredibly mature take on the galaxy far, far, away that exceeded all expectations. It dives deep into the political side of this universe, features some legitimately jaw dropping monologues and terrific performances (shoutout Stellan Skarsgård), the prison escape arc is some of the best stuff Lucasfilm has produced post-original trilogy (shoutout Andy Serkis), and like 'Rogue One' - it puts the "WAR" in "STAR WARS".

It's gritty, raw, grounded, and even makes something as usually mundane as one TIE Fighter terrifying....

Season 2 will be split up into four chapters (three episodes each), covering the four years leading up to the events of 'Rogue One' - and we'll see Cassian meet K-2SO for the first time, Ben Mendelsohn's Director Krennic will join the fray, and we should learn plenty more about the construction of the Death Star. Nothing makes me more excited than the fact that Tony Gilroy was given COMPLETE creative control after last season was such a success, though. I think he's gonna deliver something really special here and close out the story in style; here's the release schedule….

If you haven't binged the first season yet, I highly recommend it. It's a much different tone than what we've come to expect from Disney Plus Star Wars and feels like it's made for adults more than anything else in the universe. It rocks.

Oh, and now that Disney is letting the guy do what he wants, can we get the 'FUCK THE EMPIRE' cut of Season 1?!

I didn't give a Womp rat's ass about the Snyder Cut, but I need that "FUCK THE EMPIRE" cut like I need air to breathe. Give it to us Disney!
