The "P00P" Baseball Game Has Officially Been Flushed After The Phillies Broadcast Unveiled A New Scorebug

In all my life, I don't recall a single meaningful series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Pittsburgh Pirates. That's mainly due to the fact that Pirates have only had a few seasons over the past 30 years where they've been even close to relevant. Coincidentally, those are the same years when the Phillies went through some of their darkest times from 2013-15. Sometimes the Phillies and Pirates are both shit. Sometimes the Phillies are great, and the Pirates are shit. Very rarely, the Pirates are good and the Phillies are shit. Fact of the matter is that there's legitimately never been a time when there was any significance behind these two teams playing against each other.

That is, of course, until a couple seasons ago when NBC Sports Philadelphia created the greatest series in baseball. The P00P series.

It was quite literally the perfect score bug to encapsulate this matchup. You knew whenever the first pitch was being thrown, you wanted to be in front of your television. Because all it would take is just one swing of the bat, and you could miss a perfectly good P00P.

But this is the world we live in today. Cuts are being made everywhere. Designs are becoming so bare and basic and plain. It's dystopian in a way, really. Whether it's architecture, or movies, or even just logos, we've lost our sense our wonder. We don't build grand cathedrals anymore, and now we don't have even P00P score bugs anymore.

It's a goddamn shame, is what it is. It's so corporate. It's so mundane. This is a score bug that goes around telling people in the office that they look like they have a case of the Monday's. A score bug that's idea of a wild Friday night is a few espresso martinis and then in bed by 9:45.

We've gone backwards as a society. And maybe I could have lived with it before, but not anymore after it's stolen the P00P game from us. Maybe once those ratings drop during the Phillies vs Pirates series, NBCSP will do the right thing and bring back the old score bug.
