"Hopefully We're In That Position Next Year And Handle Things With A Little More Class" - Aaron Boone Threw Some Shade At The Dodgers Parade Of World Series Trash Talk This Past Offseason

Pitchers and catchers reported this week which is a great thing to see and hear. Reason to live increased exponentially. We're so close to seeing real baseball in front of our eyes again. With everyone beginning to arrive that meant it was time for Aaron Boone to speak to the media and say whats up.

The Yankees skipper was asked on his thoughts about the Dodgers players seemingly talking endless shit about beating the Yankees in the World Series. I've already talked about this in a previous blog where the Dodgers knew they just have to play fundamental baseball and the Yankees would puke on themselves.

The Dodgers players have gone out of their way to rub it in the Yankees faces this offseason. Even guys who didn't have a single thing to do with them winning joined in on the fun. A bit absurd and uncharacteristic, but 1) players hate the Yankees 2) players know the fans outside of New York hate the Yankees 3) if you win the World Series you can do/say whatever the hell you want. You're the champs, that's how it works.

Here was Boone's response to all that.

I think what he said is fair. I'm sure people are gonna clown him for the "we'll win it with class" comment considering that would involve them winning it all. I could not care less how they handle winning a World Series. Just win one. Win the fucking World Series. And if they're using the Dodgers comments to fuel them then that's great. They should! They were out-classed and embarrassed on the biggest stage. Their flaws that they tried to hide all season came out to bite them in the worst way. Thankfully this offseason they made it a point to get better defensively. When the playbook to beat you is to checks notes "play fundamental baseball" that's a problem!

Unfortunately the revamping of the team also involved losing Juan Soto. Convince yourselves all you want, they're not better without him. Good thing is that seemingly every good player who moved this offseason went to the National League for some reason. It's the Yankees' league to lose and then they'll likely have to deal with the Dodgers again. Start with catching the ball and making routine plays and we'll see where that gets us. And maybe don't put a pitcher in who hasn't thrown in a month with a World Series game on the line when you have a lefty in the pen ready to go who has been great for you. Oh they traded Nestor? Thank god.
