A Source Close to Travis Kelce Says Taylor Swift Getting Mercilessly Booed 'Broke His Heart'

When America's Biggest pop star is on the receiving end of America's biggest show of disrespect on America's biggest stage, it's going to be looked at from every conceivable angle.

There was of course the instant reaction of defaulting right to the obvious meme:

There was the unavoidable political angle:

And there was the natural tendency to blame it on Eagles fans:

Which is hard to argue with, based on whom they've booed in the past. When a beloved, ripe, jolly old elf who spreads joy throughout the holiday season isn't safe from Philly's wrath, what chance does the singer/writer of danceable tunes and bittersweet love ballads aimed at 20 year old women have?

Besides, I think the decision to flip the double freedom rockets in Taylor's direction isn't anything personal. It's more a general societal burnout towards celebrities as a whole. I can't quantify it. Or prove it. Or even make a decent case for it. I just get the sense Normies have grown sick over of fawning over entertainers and the people who are famous just for being famous over the last few years. Maybe beginning with the response to Covid. But definitely up to an through the election when they rejected what practically all the celebrities were telling them what do. If the collapse in Award Shows viewership is any indication, I'm right about this.

Anyway, whatever your point of view on why the Queen of an entire generation just found herself on the business end of a public humiliation, let's not overlook the human element here. Taylor has a man who loves her. (Presumably.) And he was having one of the toughest nights at the office of his career even before everyone started picking on his honey. And according to one report, the treatment she got left him feeling "helpless":

Daily Mail - Travis Kelce was left devastated after noticing Taylor Swift getting booed during the Super Bowl in New Orleans on Sunday night. …

A source close to Kelce said: 'Travis was aware of Taylor getting booed and he felt helpless. Seeing the look on her face got to him.

'He always protects her and it broke his heart. He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn't help. Travis knows that this hurt her and anyone can see this.

'It’s clear to many that the Eagles fans feel she is a traitor of sorts - being from Pennsylvania and even wearing Eagles gear prior to dating him. Travis believes that it was unnecessary for Trump to take a dig at her especially after he voiced that he was honored for a president to be there.

About that last part:

The anonymous source continues:

'After Taylor being shut out for a Grammy and Travis losing the biggest game of the year it just hasn’t been a good week for them. But he knows that even though this is not a happy ending to the season having her love gives him so much joy.'

Devastated. Helpless. Broke his heart. Hurt. And that was before the game got out of reach and he had to look dejected in front of the whole world, then do the Sad Charlie Brown Walk off the field and out of the stadium:

So let this be a reminder to us all. If you have even a drop of the milk of human kindness in your soul, you'll offer a little sympathy in this moment. Sure, Taylor is a billionaire who gets idolized by every person in every seat of every stadium she sells out around the globe. Yes, Travis got to spend his offseason flying around with her on her PJ and doing more commercial endorsements than anyone this side of Kevin Hart. Yes, he gets every break imaginable on the field. To the point he can commit blatant taunting penalties and get away with it:

But by golly, they're people too. They have feelings, same as you and me. If you prick them, do they not bleed? If you tickle them, do they not laugh? When they get shut out at the Grammys, get held to four receptions and 39 yards, and get booed, are they not sad? Of course they are. Not sad enough to play better after the booing, perhaps. But sad.

Let's not lose sight of that fact as this adorable, devoted couple tries to navigate their way through this difficult post-Grammys, post-Super Bowl LIX. And to remember to be kind.

P.S. The worst part about the Chiefs losing is it cost us the chance to see Kelce and Swift visit the White House. That would've been without a doubt the best championship reception in presidential history.
