I'll Give You One Guess Which College Basketball Coach Went To Media Day Instead Of Being Back With Their Team Trying To Improve On Their 2-22 Record

I feel like I must remind people I used to be the biggest Doug Gottlieb hater on the planet. Hated how he acted on his high horse all the time, despite getting kicked out of Notre Dame for stealing his roommates credit card.

LA Times - Doug Gottlieb, a former Notre Dame and Tustin High School basketball player, has been charged with felony theft for allegedly using stolen credit cards to purchase nearly $1,000 of merchandise, St. Joseph County (Ind.) prosecutor Mike Barnes said.

Gottlieb will surrender voluntarily Monday in Indiana and make a court appearance Tuesday, according to Barnes. Barnes said no warrant has been issued at this time and bail was set at $5,000 bond or $500 cash. Gottlieb faces a possible three-year prison term and a fine of up to $10,000 if convicted.

“We reviewed the evidence and filed what we believe is the appropriate charge,” Barnes said. “There could be a wide range of penalties. It can be treated as a misdemeanor at sentencing if it’s deemed appropriate at that time.”

Even used to call into his show and get banned.

Went at it on the Dozen

And then buried the hatchet during my rehab process …

I am simply reporting the facts now when news comes across my desk as a credentialed member of the media. If you need the scoop on all of Doug's escapades this season … here's the recap.

In the newest chapter of this ongoing saga, he has decided to spend a few days away from his team to attend Super Bowl media day instead of practice. At this point folks I'm gonna say it, you almost have to respect what this guy is doing. He's cashing two paychecks while being subpar at both of his jobs. I feel like if you ask most lazy people in America they would sign up for this. The guy is all time mailing it in. Seriously, at a certain point he has to really consider if he can keep doing this. He was scrutinized from the get-go on how he would balance both jobs, and it's clearly not working out. He has to pick one and just go with it. And honestly, he'll never listen to my advice … and even as shitty as he is at it … he's gotta pick radio. He isn't cut out for coaching. He's just not. There's a reason it took him so long to get a job in the industry, and even when he finally did it's in the Horizon league (not a shot at the Horizon league .. love watching you on Friday nights.) Just give it up Doug while you still can and avoid the embarrassment of getting fired.
