Angel Reese Just Became The 1st Ever Player Ejected In "Unrivaled" 3-on-3 League History
Well this will be sure to get the people going. I haven't written a women's basketball blog since the day the Fever got eliminated in the first round the WNBA season ended, but if Angel Reese is going to get tossed on National Television I'm going to dust off the ol' fingers. And listen, I know she's a polarizing figure because she's the self-proclaimed additional reason as to why people are watching women's basketball these days, but I'm going to keep this fair, unbiased, and honest. I'll watch the clip and do my research because I, shockingly along with the rest of the world, wasn't watching the new Unrivaled League. And I'll get back to you to determine if she (in all honesty, probably the biggest "name" in the league) deserved to be ejected. Please hold.
Technical One, upon further review, was 100% warranted. I don't care that she went clap, clap, clap when she was playing one-on-one defense. That's part of the game and anyone who says this factors in has a different agenda. But when she reached and not just one ref, but both refs looking at the play, blew their whistle and signaled for the foul....she went with the unprecedented Triple Wave Off.
Wave Off 1:
Wave Off 2:
Wave Off 3:
I mean that's a technical in all 50 states right there, regardless of men's or women's. So now let me check out Technical #2 that cost her the ejection. Please hold.
Well fuck. You can't see it? I can't find a clip anywhere on the internet. But I'll say this with the utmost sincerity, the reaction of the player at the free throw line (hilarious) and the fact that the female official who was seemingly trying to talk Angel down from her emotional wreck was the one who ejected her....tells me she had to have done something to earn it? Wish we had the full shot. Come on TNT!
Regardless, she took to Twitter already:
Congrats Angel! First to be ejected in league history. This will be a Dozen Trivia Question one day.
