'What Are We Doing? I Can't Believe This!' - Kentucky High School Team Walks Off Court, Forfeits After Their Entire Bench Got Ejected
Alright, a lot of moving parts here. The first video shows the scrap that led to Powell County's bench getting ejected for leaving the bench area. This has led to a lot of people on social media claiming ref show and #highschoolbasketballrigged. I have no idea. I know it might shock you but I'm not locked into the Kentucky high school basketball scene. I just see something going around and that's it.
That said, the announcer is the star here for all the right or wrong reasons. Dude is losing his mind over Powell County walking off the court. Extreme unsportsmanlike? Settle down man, they are just quitting and trying to prove a point. We don't need life lectures over here while the thousands are watching a 10th region game. That said, if you can't laugh at a man wearing a backpack calling kids off the court to storm off, you're wrong. That image is fucking hilarious because of how outrageous it is.
I think I've made it very clear throughout my time here and really throughout my life, I'm anti-ref. A ref show is the worst thing out there. No desire to defend refs. But we also always hear, what are you going to do about it when there's a potential rig job going on? This is the answer. Powell County is going to walk right off the court.
I know it's high school basketball, but we need some boots on the ground here to find out what the coach and AD talked about. In college we get an answer pretty quick and if they agree with the decision. Also, there's gotta be some real animosity here. In that first video the coaches kinda look like they scream at each other for a second. Proved their point though. Walked off the court down 43-26 in the first half. Your move, refs.
