I'm Sure Bills Fans Already Know This, But Their Trades With The Chiefs Are Haunting Them

Bills fans are going through it. Rightfully so. Between the Kincaid drop.

The questionable first down spot.

Not being able to execute a tush push

Mcdermott's play calling, the fear of never being able to get over the hump, Travis Kelce singing in your face. It's gotta be hell. Legit hell. So the last thing I want to do is rub salt in their wounds but it's worth bringing up that part of the reason the Bills cannot beat the Chiefs when it matters is their own fault.

Now again I understand it's very easy to look back after the fact and grade a trade when you see it play out. Tons of people come out of the woodwork and dunk on people or mock them and downright abuse them. This is a bad tactic and always bothers me because where were these people kicking and screaming when the trade went down. Where were all the experts tweeting and doing videos about how bad these trades were in the moment? Everyone is expert after the fact but no one says anything when it's happening. Typical internet.

No one could have known Mahomes (aside from him and the Chiefs) was going to be a generational talent. In fact there were quite a few cold takes coming out of that draft

Arrowheadpride.com - The Chiefs just got the heir apparent to Alex Smith, but in many ways, Mahomes is Smith’s polar opposite: The son of a former MLB pitcher, he has an incredible arm, and he’s never been afraid to use it. But unlike Smith, Mahomes lacks discipline and consistency — both when it comes to playing within the constructs of the offense and with his accuracy and decision-making. Andy Reid has a project on his hands, and it will take some time for Mahomes to acclimate and adapt to Reid’s West Coast offense, but the former Red Raider is going to a team with plenty of playmakers, including Jeremy Maclin, Travis Kelce, and Tyreek Hill. It’s a high-risk, high-reward move for the Chiefs, who gave up this year’s 27th pick, another third-rounder this year, and a first-rounder next year to move up to this spot. - Danny Kelly (Ringer)

Arrowheadpride.com - Calling Mahomes a project is a major understatement. He’s nowhere near ready to play in the NFL. And, honestly, he may never be. Between his inconsistent accuracy due to poor mechanics, his tendency to bail from clean pockets and his lack of field vision, he’s going to leave as many big plays on the field as he creates. This was a risky pick.- Steven Ruiz USA Today

Arrowheadpride.com- My grade on what Kansas City did in this draft is due to my opinion that they gave up way too much to trade up for quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the first round. Again, if he works out, I look dumb and it doesn’t matter. But to give up pick Nos. 27 and 91 this year and a first-round pick in 2018 is a lot. The Chiefs are a team that I think could have used this draft to find a player in the first round who can push them over the top in 2017 and help them make a Super Bowl push.

Grade: C - Dan Kadar SB Nation

You win some you lose some in terms of that one. Buffalo lost big on that one, and KC won big. Happens.

The one take I have is that after that blew up in their face, why did Buffalo trade with the Chiefs AGAIN with the Worthy trade?!?!?!?! I don't care what the Bills were offered, knowing what you knew from the Mahomes trade, there is such a risk that this one can blow up in your face also. It feels like only bad could have come from that. Also you know the Chiefs draft well, so if they are targeting a guy to move up chances are your spidey senses should perk up and say "What are we missing here"? Certain teams just nail it, and the Chiefs clearly nail it so the Bills should have avoided that trade knowing it's their rival and how it could come back to hurt them.

And boy did it hurt them …

Final take … if The Bills ever make another trade with The Chiefs during the Mahomes era they deserve all the pain they get. They've now been burnt twice, … if they do it again I have no sympathy.
