No Lightpole In Philadelphia Is Safe For The Next Two Weeks
I know the Mayor of Philadelphia made a fool of herself a bit last week after botching the spelling of "EAGLES". But she completely redeemed herself this week when the city opted to not preemptively grease the lightpoles around the city.
The last few times the city has greased up the poles in anticipation of a major celebration on Broad Street, our teams have let us down. The Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. The Phillies in the 2023 NLCS. In both instances, greasing the poles before the games were played turned out to be a curse. So this week with the Eagles hosting the NFC Championship Game, Mayor Cherelle Parker decided to just leave the poles alone.
Obviously it worked out in the Eagles' favor as they spanked the balls off the Commanders. But that means that no pole in this city is safe right now.
We've got folks reading "Inner Excellence" up on the poles.
We have kids who probably aren't even old enough to tie their own shoes attempting to climb the poles (before getting wrapped up by Philly PD).
We even have chicks up on poles. And chicks are usually awful at being on elevated surfaces.
Fact of the matter is that if you're a pole right now in the Greater Philadelphia Area, chances are you're going to get climbed at some point over these next few weeks. No if's, and's, or but's about it.
