Braves Are BACK: Atlanta Adds Jurickson Profar to Once Again Lethal Lineup

Oh, baby. Everyone else fucked around for too long and let Alex Anthopoulos cook.

To be honest, I was becoming slightly disillusioned in recent days by the fact that we're only a few weeks out from spring training and the Braves had yet to make really any move whatsoever. But if that's what it took to add Jurickson Profar to this club, I will take that deal 11 times out of 10.

Once Ronald Acuña Jr. is back healthy, Atlanta's lineup should be right back up there with the best in baseball. It was unsustainably good in 2023 and unsustainably poor in 2024, but the middle ground with Profar thrown in there will be lethal. There may only be one other team in baseball that can compete with a top five of Acuña, Profar, Austin Riley, Matt Olson and Marcell Ozuna.

I'm maybe 10 percent concerned about signing a guy off the best year of his career, but when you can upgrade from Jarred Kelenic in left field to Profar, you do it. Plus, if Profar had an .839 OPS in San Diego, imagine what he's going to do when he gets into the Braves' Magic Hitting Lab.

We are so back. Twenty days until pitchers and catchers report.
