Manchester City Chokes Again: City Has Now Blown NINE Games in Which They've Led

It feels like the end of an era for Manchester City. Once the most dominant force in world football, they’re now earning a reputation as notorious choke artist. After jumping out to an early 2-0 lead against PSG, it seemed like the footballing juggernauts were back to their unstoppable best. But in a shocking turn of events, they folded like a lawn chair, allowing PSG to score four unanswered goals. The result? Yet another gut-wrenching loss for a team that once seemed invincible.

This isn’t just a one-off fluke, either. In fact, it’s the ninth time this season that City has lost a game in which they’ve held the lead. For a club with their resources, talent, and ambitions, this level of inconsistency is nothing short of shocking. The question on everyone’s mind: What on earth is going on at Manchester City?

Is it Pep Guardiola? “The best manager in world football?”  Is it the age of the squad? City has long relied on experienced stars like Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gündoğan, and Kyle Walker (who is expected to join AC Milan today), but could this core finally be showing signs of decline?

Or is it simply bad luck and injuries? Every team goes through rough patches, and City has certainly had to contend with key players missing time. But at some point, excuses run thin when results keep going the wrong way.

Whatever the reason, something is undeniably wrong at Manchester City. Teams used to fear playing City. In fact, I’d argue teams were scared to score too soon on them in fear of waking up the beast. Now, it’s almost the opposite. For a club with their aspirations—Premier League titles and Champions League glory—this trend is not just disappointing; it’s disastrous.

As a hater, I find GREAT joy in watching this all play out. Watching City stumble so dramatically after years of dominance is a reminder that no team, no matter how powerful, is immune to collapse. The cracks are showing, and it’s hard to see how they’ll fix them anytime soon.
