Karl-Anthony Towns Showed Up To Game In Philly Wearing An Eagles Shirt, Was Quickly Forced To Change Into Knicks Gear At Halftime
Karl-Anthony Towns has grown up as an Eagles fan his entire life. I don't really get it because he grew up in North Jersey, but I love it and respect it. He seems to be pretty die-hard, and that's all it takes for me. Obviously I wish he didn't play for the Knicks, but a Birds fan is a Birds fan.
Now out of all the professional sports leagues, the NBA seems to be the one that wants and allows its athletes to express themselves the most. If you have a cause or an issue that you want to support, the NBA is quick to accommodate.
So if Karl-Anthony Towns wants to support his Philadelphia Eagles as their in the midst of a run to the Super Bowl, you'd think the NBA would be understanding of that. You'd think the New York Knicks would support their player, and support his decision. But instead, they forced him to switch out of his sick Birds shirt and into some random piece of shit Knicks merch.
I mean, sure, maybe it wasn't the greatest look ever to be wearing an Eagles shirt while your team is playing in Philly. But it sure seems like the NBA is setting quite the double standard here. If the Birds are the cause that KAT supports, then he should be able to express his solitude with the people of Philadelphia as we gear up for a matchup against the Rams in the divisional round. Seems like some real political bullshit to force him to change into a Knicks shirt at halftime. That's censorship to the highest degree.
Sick league. All I can say is that I wish KAT put up a little fight. We're talking about the playoffs, man. It's win or go home. The Eagles have a game on Sunday afternoon, but nothing is guaranteed after that. If KAT truly cared about the Birds as much as he said he does, he wouldn't have taken off that shirt for shit tonight. But I don't want to start questioning his level of commitment to this team right now. We need all Eagles fans on the same page for Sunday. One team, one city, one heartbeat. Fuck the Knicks.
