Some Things Are Bigger Than Sports: Wemby And Chris Paul Gave JJ Redick's Sons Jerseys After They Lost Their Collection In The LA Fires
Beautiful. Everyone watching how horrifying the LA Fires are is obviously upset at the devastation. Just a horrible tragedy. Horrible. I wasn't expecting to see this but was thrilled with it as it was a little moment of happiness in a world of horrifying tragedy. This is why sports is such a beautiful thing. In horrible tragedy it's what binds us together and for a few seconds makes us forget about all the bad in the world and lets you cheer, or celebrate for just a few seconds. The most obvious moment of that in history is the Mike Piazza home run after 9/11.
This was a beautiful moment. Collectibles for kids are a big deal. Trading cards, jerseys, etc. We all had our collections growing up and knew how much they meant to us. JJ Redick's kids lost their collections and CP3 and Wemby helped restart their collection by gifting them each a jersey. A really cool moment and speaks volumes about how good a guy Chris Paul and Wemby, who's still just a kid himself by the way, are. Also speaks volumes to the respect JJ Redick has within the league having played for so long, being a super knowledgable media person and now a coach. It was great to see, and once again proves some things are bigger than sports.
