HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS: Jerry Jones Has Reportedly Talked To Deion Sanders About Coaching Dallas Next Season
Sources: #Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has spoken with Colorado HC Deion Sanders about the team’s head coaching vacancy, and discussions are expected to continue regarding the possibility of him becoming the next head coach in Dallas. Coach Prime is considered a top candidate, though the Cowboys plan to interview other candidates as part of the process, per team sources.
Obviously there is a football game going on between two actually good teams right now. But I just wanted to shout out the Cowboys for doing Cowboys things and letting this hit the internet right after the last game of Super Wild Card Weekend kicked off.
Say what you want about Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, and us at Barstool Sports (dot) come have said PLENTY. But goddamn does Jerruh know how to be a showman with his franchise. Back in the day everyone talked about the Cowboys because they were made splash moves and won all the time. Now everyone talks about them because they make splash moves and lose in unbelievably gut wrenching fashion, which is much more fun for America to get behind when it comes to "America's Team". Which is why I feel like Jerry feels it necessary to go back to the Deion well 30 years after he brought him to Dallas the first time. Especially since Cowboys legend Troy Aikman said something that Jerry's Yes Men wouldn't dare say.
I am also not sure just how much of an option Deion Sanders actually is for the Cowboys since it appears a prerequisite for the position these days is to allow Jerry to cut your balls off and keep them on his desk. I simply can't imagine that someone who named himself Prime Time would sign up for that type of power dynamic. Maybe he could look past that if the Cowboys find a way to draft his son. But doing that would almost definitely require offering a monster haul in the draft as well as figuring out what to do with Dak's $100+ million(!!!) dead cap number. However in the end, I've learned never to doubt Jerry Jones, no matter how ridiculous or hilarious it could end up being for the Cowboys.
So I would like to tip my cap to Jerruh for continuing to be a 1 of 1 at the ripe old age of 82, even if the rest of the people working and rooting for the Cowboys wish they could just be a normal team for once, let alone a super marketable team in a state without income tax that should be a destination for NFL players.
P.S. I GUARANTEE Deion not only gets the sunlight situation fixed at the Cowboys stadium if he becomes their head coach, but he does so while also cashing in on a commercial for his new shades. If Bill Parcells could sign up for coaching a team under Jerry Jones, maybe Deion can as well...
