Tank Mission Complete: The Cleveland Browns Officially Have A Top 3 Pick In The Draft
To quote the great Ed Henry from Remember The Titans: "Well, that's it, boys. Good season".
Except if I were to change one thing about that quote to make it more specific to this year's Cleveland Browns, I would change the word "good" and replace it with "the most frustrating season of sports I've ever watched in my entire life". Fuck this team, and fuck this organization. I truly thought, coming into this year, that the Browns were good enough to compete for a Super Bowl. You're going to call me delusional for thinking that, but the fact of the matter is we were coming off an 11-6 playoff season with our backup QB. And we returned a player that I, once again, thought could revert back to his 2020 self and make this team even better. Plus we brought back the Defensive Player of the Year. Plus we added Jerry Jeudy to go along with Amari Cooper. Plus Nick Chubb would be back at some point. Plus we had one of the best coaches in the NFL. I honestly would've said this Browns team had a better chance of going 14-3 this year than 3-14.....but here we are. We have officially clinched (at least a tie of) the worst record in the NFL.
I have zero comments from today's game. When you start Bailey Zappe against a team that needs to win to clinch their division, you know what you're doing. You're tanking...and at least we did that well. I will say that at least we finished the season in style. The only way to cap off this embarrassing of a season is to throw a game ending interception....down 25....in the red zone...to a 500 pound lineman.
Whatever. We're onto next year. I'll be watching tomorrow's games to see if the Pats and/or Titans are dumb enough to fuck up and let us move any further up into the draft than our current spot of #3. From there, I'll devise a plan and submit it to the Browns front office since I no longer even trust Andrew Berry to make the right moves. We'll need a plan for who is going to be our starting QB next year (seems like it's going to be fucking Deshaun Watson), who we'll draft, and if we're going to trade Myles Garrett. I don't know my official stance yet on any of those three question marks, but I beg you please Mr. Berry.....don't take Mason Graham from Michigan. I don't think I can stomach having to cheer for that mother fucker that called Jack Sawyer an "Ohio State pussy" for the next 5-10 years. Take Travis Hunter. Take Cam Ward. Take Will Campbell. Trade the fucking pick. But if we come out of this draft with Mason...or even a trade for JJ McCarthy....I think that may finally put me over the edge with this organization.
