Team Guy: AJ Brown Saves The Day, Gives Fan His Game Worn Jersey In Return For Tanner McKee's First Touchdown Ball He Launched Into The Crowd
Promises made. Promises delivered.
AJ Brown has now caught at least one touchdown pass from 3 different Eagles quarterbacks this season. He's caught plenty thrown by Jalen Hurts this year. He hauled one in from the arm of Kenny Pickett last week against the Commies. And then today he caught this perfect back shoulder throw from Tanner McKee.
So in AJ Brown's defense, it has to be pretty hard for him to keep up with who is throwing him the ball every snap. Which meant it was easy for him to either completely forget or not realize that this was Tanner McKee's first touchdown pass of his career. So when he decided to launch the ball 20 rows into the stands...
Well he quickly realized he probably fucked up a little. But being the team guy that he is, AJ Brown wasn't going to leave the stadium without that ball being in Tanner McKee's possession. So he took a page out of his favorite game show's playbook, and said "Let's Make A Deal".
Now we won't know for quite some time just how valuable holding onto that ball would have been for the fan. You never know if Tanner McKee is going to turn into the greatest quarterback the NFL has ever seen one day. You give up that first touchdown ball and you're pissing away millions of potential dollars. But as of right now, I can't imagine the market value for that ball is too high. But a signed, game worn kelly green AJ Brown jersey from the game they clinched the NFC East? Well now you have a collectors item. Plus all the screentime on TV.
So at the end of the day, it's a great move by AJ Brown and a pretty solid deal for the fan. Unless, of course, Tanner McKee goes on to win 7 Super Bowls. In which case, that's like buying a couple of pizzas with bitcoin in 2010.
Go Birds.
