This Father-Son Fight Just Proves That Saskatchewan Senior Hockey Means More

Contrary to popular belief, nobody is playing senior hockey in Saskatchewan for the fame or fortune. I mean I'm sure they get their fair share of puck bunnies/lot lizards. I'm sure a few of those ladies have left their mark on the boys that'll last a lifetime. But if you're playing Saskatchewan senior hockey, you are strictly playing for the love of the game and the love of your team.

The moment you put on that jersey, nothing else matters. It's you vs whoever else decides to put on a different colored sweater than you. It doesn't matter who they are or where they are from, those sons of bitches are the enemy. Could be your friend, could be your enemy, or it could be your dad.

Wait...what?

Here we have Chris and Tyler Ewen. Chris is the old man, still flying around out there at 47.

And Tyler is his 27-year-old son.

This is what the holidays are all about. Getting family together and creating memories that'll last forever. Sure, for most people those memories involve something whole like swapping stories over an open fire. But in the Ewen household, those memories involve dropping the mitts and chucking some knucks.

What a tilt, too. Father-son fight aside, that was a great fight. Both fellas just standing in the pocket and unloading some haymakers. They both got a great grip hooked in with their left arm, and just went to town with some heavy rights. You love to see it. And you especially love to see the old man scoring the takedown at the end there. No matter how big and strong the young bull might get, the old man will always be his dad. And dad strength always comes out on top.

Anyway, just look at the smile on that young fella after the game. You can't tell me that Saskatchewan Senior Hockey isn't the most effective form of family therapy out there. A family that drops the gloves together, keeps the love together.
