BREAKING: THE CHICAGO BEARS HAVE FIRED MATT EBERFLUS
THEY DID IT!!!!
I am actually surprised that the Bears brass pulled the trigger on Eberflus. When they had him do his zoom earlier today and he said that everything was normal and he was preparing for the 49ers I wasn't necessarily surprised because of the Bears history, but it was astounding at the same. I am glad they did it. We got to hear Eberflus say one more time that it wasn't his fault. That he did everything right. The Bears gave him a chance to throw his players under the bus one last time. A nice early Christmas present for Eberflus.
That was the thing that made me hate him more than any coach ever. He was always right and nothing was ever his fault. I am sure it had to infuriate his players too. It was time for a chance. Beyond time. Everyone with a brain knew the Bears should've fired Eberflus in January
Instead Ryan Poles (it was confirmed Ryan Poles who stood on the table arguing for Eberflus after last season) retained a coach and botched a year of a pretty good roster and a year of development for arguably the most important player the Bears have ever had. Disgraceful. Stupid. Unforgivable. I think Ryan Poles has done a good job, for the most part, of building this roster over the last two years, but Eberflus NEVER should've been retained and for that I think Poles should probably be fired too. I want a coach who has all the power and if Poles and Warren are around in football operations that is not going to happen. The judgement of Poles has to be judged at this point. Thank you for the Caleb/DJ Moore Panthers trade, but he can't be trusted to make another coaching hire.
The Bears are going to move Thomas Brown into the HC role. Great month or so for him. Goes from passing game coordinator to head coach in the blink of an eye. He's been in the booth calling plays. Things have gone better for the offense and Caleb so it makes sense that the Bears would change the one thing that is working at the moment. I don't know who should be the coach, but I would leave the offense alone. Hire literally anyone else to manage the whole team and the defense for the rest of the year. That's not the Bears way though.
Now we MUST get it right this time. No ask from a head coach is too big. There is no price too big. Get the best guy available and give him the deed to the Arlington land if that is what it takes to get the deal done. I want Vrabel at this moment. We need a guy who will change the entire culture. Demanding. Detailed. Experienced. Vrabel as HC and I would love an experienced OC for Caleb. If the Bears don't spare every expense and do it like a big boy franchise this time then it's never going to happen. I won't believe it until I see it. Everything has to be different.
