The Juggernaut Dodgers Refuse To Stop Getting Better As They Sign Blake Snell To a Five Year Deal

There I was scrolling Instagram minding my own business watching some great college basketball as I came across Blake Snell posting himself in a Dodger uniform out of nowhere. No tweet from any of the big name reporters to back it up. My immediate thought was that he was just trolling. I vaguely remember he fucked around on social media a little bit last year before signing with the Giants. Nope, turns out he was just breaking his own news. Blake Snell is in fact a goddamn Dodger. 

My thoughts? Enough. I am TIRED of this. Shohei Ohtani signed for pennies, only to be paid the big bucks once his social security kicks in. That wrinkle in his deal has allowed the Dodgers to go nuclear and become the true Evil Empire of the sport. The profits they make from Ohtani's superstardom will easily make that deal worth it by the time the first big payday is due. 

As it currently stands their starting rotation in 2025 will be a combination of Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Dustin May, and Tony Gonsolin. Sure some of those guys are injury prone, but the Dodgers actually just won the World Series with the least amount of those starting pitchers available to them. And that's only if Japanese sensation Roki Sasaki doesn't go there also when his signing period opens up. He'll also be available for pennies on the dollar because he's leaving Japan early. What's his role? Long man when the game gets out of hand? I am TIRED of this shit.

At this point does Shohei become their closer? Wouldn't that make the most sense given his arm injuries? Sure closers can get hurt too, but you'd be asking him to give you a hell of a lot less innings per season while also ramping up his stuff with shortened pitch counts. I don't need the Dodgers getting that idea in their heads so let's keep that a secret. 

The Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, and Orioles reportedly struck out here although it's anyone's guess how actually interested those parties were. When the offseason began I penciled the Red Sox getting two premier starting pitchers. One of them just went off the board. Heyman says they were in on both Snell and Kikuchi. 

Does that mean you're about to see them throw the kitchen sink at Max Fried? Kinda have to now, no? The stove is hot. Let's get more moves out there before Soto decides in a few weeks. 

P.S. I think they're only in to drive up the price, but if the Dodgers land Soto I'm calling the police 

P.P.S. Hal Steinbrenner has said you shouldn't need a $300M payroll to consistently compete for a World Series title. He's not wrong, but when Brian Cashman is your GM you do to cover his mistakes. I don't know how you can lose a World Series to the Dodgers and not react by spending a ton of money. Obviously they're very in on Juan Soto, but you need more than that. George would have had three guys in the door already to help this team. Gotta back up the Brinks trucks and bite the bullet.
