These Wins Mean Nothing if the Dolphins Don’t Beat the Packers on Thanksgiving

Some things just never get old. Take my favorite movie, “The Waterboy,” for instance—I’ve watched it over a thousand times, can recite every line, and yet I still laugh at the same scenes as if I’m seeing them for the first time. That’s exactly how it feels watching the Dolphins play the Patriots. The Patriots are our little bitch, and there’s nothing they can do about it. After the beatdown we handed them yesterday, Tua is now 7-0 against the New England Patriots. He owns them.

Now, I’m not going to sit here a twerk all over the place just because we beat the Patriots, but I’ll absolutely savor these victories. What’s the point of being a fan if you’re going to stay miserable all the time? Do I think this season will still end in heartbreak? You bet your sweet ass I do. But am I going to enjoy the journey while it lasts? Absolutely.

That said, this win streak doesn’t mean shit if we don’t beat the Packers on Thanksgiving. The team knows that too. Just listen to what Calais Campbell told the team after the win over the Patriots—it’s clear they’re locked in.

The stakes have never been higher for this Dolphins team. A win on Thursday would put us at 6-6, with a schedule that includes two games against the Jets, a struggling Houston team, a Niners squad that looks like a shadow of its former self, and the Browns.

There’s a legitimate case to be made that the Dolphins could run the table. But as a lifelong Dolphins fan, I know better than to fully convince myself of that. December and January have not been kind to us in the past. Foolishly, though—like the big dumb optimist I am—I can’t help but feel a surge of confidence in this team. You can see it too. The swagger was undeniable on the field yesterday, and I believe it’ll carry over into Thursday night’s game against the Packers. That’s why I’m picking us to win.

Final Score Prediction: Dolphins 27 Packers 23
