Cocky Mike McDaniel Is Back: Watch Him Troll Maxx Crosby Mid-Game During The Dolphins Win Over The Raiders

Here’s my issue with Mike McDaniel. When the Dolphins are winning, he’s my favorite person in the world. How can you not love this guy when your team is on top? Hearing him troll Maxx Crosby mid-game and hitting him with a real-life "LOL" was an all-time moment. It wasn’t enough to just laugh in Crosby’s face and tell him we didn’t even have a play called—he actually said the letters l-o-l right to him. He’s the best… when we’re winning.

However, when this team loses, he’s the worst. The things we love about him when we’re on a roll quickly become things we can’t stand. Listening to him stutter his way through a post-game press conference after a loss is as painful—if not worse—than hearing Mintzy explain his profit boost strategy for the eight-hundredth time. It’s brutal.

It’s a tough spot because, on a personal level, I love the guy. He’s someone I could hang out with every week and never get tired of. But as the head coach of an NFL team, it’s a love/hate relationship. When the Dolphins are winning, I’m all in. Moments like his Crosby troll make him feel like the perfect coach for this team. But if the losses start piling up, I can’t help but question him, and I have no choice but to vent my frustrations.

I honestly don’t know how to feel about Mike McDaniel. He’s a guy I admire and respect on a human level, but as a coach, my feelings hinge entirely on the win-loss column. As long as we keep winning, I’ll celebrate him and moments like these. But if the losing starts again, it’ll be hard not to let the frustration creep back in.
