A New Fleetwood Mac Documentary Is On The Way From Apple Films

Apple Original Films just announced a new documentary about Fleetwood Mac directed by Frank Marshall is in the works - and I am FIRED UP about it!

Frank Marshall is obviously a legendary EGOT-winning producer with as many successful credits to his name as anyone in Hollywood, but he has recently gone down this side-quest path of making music documentaries, and he's awesome at it. He directed the HBO Bee Gees documentary 'How Can You Mend a Broken Heart' in 2020 which was phenomenal, the recent Disney Plus Beach Boys documentary that got tons of love this Spring, and even did a couple on Carole King and New Orleans Jazz Fest in-between! Plus - he produced the new John Williams one which is a must watch on Disney Plus.

Fleetwood Mac is as daunting a subject as any to tackle in the music realm, but after seeing Marshall's prior docu-work, I've definitely got faith that he could pull this off. And I gotta say, for a band as timeless and legendary as Fleetwood Mac - with the storied history they have, especially - it's kind of insane that there isn't already a definitive documentary out there about the group.

There's an old episode of Classic Albums (awesome series) on 'Rumours' that is really great, and an early 90s Disney Channel special called 'Going Home' that Fleetwood Mac diehards seem to love - but this will be the first authorized documentary telling their story from start-to-finish, and that's just outrageous to me. The Beatles seemingly get a new one produced by a different legendary filmmaker every year, often times about the same periods, and yet Fleetwood Mac couldn't get one til now?! The band who had more drama and inner-group fucking than the first season of Jersey Shore?! Blasphemy.

I hope that whenever this documentary comes out, it's nearing the 7 hour 48 minute runtime of 'Get Back' - and that they spend at least ten minutes on this legendary 'Silver Springs' performance alone....
