Philly Athletes Are Starting A Revolution On Whooping Dipshits Who Run Their Mouths

Over the years, people have grown more and more comfortable with saying whatever they want to say about professional athletes. I'd imagine a lot of it has to do with the age of social media and having entirely too much access to everyone. A lot of it probably has to do with the fact that the salaries in professional sports have continued to skyrocket over the years, so now it's easier for the common fan to distance themselves from the pro athlete as being an actual human. But the majority of it? Well I'd say the majority of this occurs because we, as a society, have stopped being so open to punching people in the face when they deserve to get punched in the face.

There was a time when people would have to think twice about the words that were about to leave their mouths. Not because they were afraid of "offending" the person they were speaking to, but because they were fearful of the repercussions. About leaving that interaction with a busted face and maybe a missing tooth or two. But now you're not allowed to hit people, and it's created a world where little shit head college kids can say things to Jason Kelce about his brother being a homophobic slur.

It's created a world where the biggest piece of shit in media, Marcus Hayes, can bring up Joel Embiid's son and dead brother in an article saying that Embiid doesn't care enough about them to play.

Now no punches were thrown in either of these incidents. Just a phone getting smashed, and a "reporter" getting shoved. But just the mere threat of violence coming from someone of the physical stature of Jason Kelce and/or Joel Embiid is enough to get the message through.

This isn't the first time this idea has been brought up, but I think it's a great time to finally implement it--professional athletes should be allowed to fight one fan or media member per year without having to suffer any consequences. You only get the one per year, so you have to be really strategic on when you use it. But there needs to be a little bit of accountability brought back to society, and I think idiots getting the shit kicked out of them by a professional athlete is a great place to start.

And believe me, I know that this would also open me up to getting the crap kicked out of me as well. But I think it's important for that to be a part of the job. Keeping a running list of which athletes have already used up their fight for the season and who I'd have a green light to go after. Being smart enough to choose my words carefully on someone who still has an ass whooping to hand out that year.

It would make the world a better place. And I'm just proud that Philly athletes are the ones who are starting that revolution. Chip Kelly was a fucking asshole and an abysmal failure during his time here in Philly, but he got it right when he said "we're from Philadelphia, and we fight".
