The Break Of A Lifetime: Xavier Worthy Claims The Colts Called Him On Draft Night, Hung Up On Him As They Were Making Their Pick

Do I think this is real? 100%. You're talking about a franchise which is run horribly and the possibility of thinking they had the wrong Texas player. Remember, they ended up drafting Adonai Mitchell in the 2nd round. Maybe that scout saw Texas wide receiver, just call him and tell him they like him in the second round before he realized he hit the wrong number? We've all been there. You ever slip when going to call someone? Terrifying. You have to hang up before the call really goes through and hope that they didn't see your name. Even worse is sending the text to the wrong person. Can't undo that.

Anyways, back to this. Talk about the break of a lifetime and I mean that from a career standpoint here. Let's say the Colts were interested in Xavier Worthy in the first round. You're now on a team where Anthony Richardson is getting benched and you don't know the quarterback plan for the future unless they somehow find a way to freeze Joe Flacco. Instead you get the Chiefs trading up for you and end up with the one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever live who is still in their prime. Not a bad deal!

If we're being honest, the list of teams who I would believe to hang up on draft night because of hitting the wrong number is a little too high for my liking. Teams right off the top of my head who I could see doing this: Jets, Giants, Browns, Colts, Bengals, Raiders, Jaguars, Panthers and Cowboys. Think that's the group who I could see it doing. A bunch of horribly run franchises and someone like Jerry Jones thinking it's hilarious as a prank call. Either way, Xavier Worthy ended up better. Still not as bad as Mohamed Sanu getting prank called on Draft Night, but getting hung up on can't feel good.
