Forecaster Frank NFL Week 9: Polling Data

I stayed hot in Week 8, posting a record of 10-6. My season total is now an impressive 70-49-3.

Thursday Night

  • NYJ -1.5 (o/u 42)
  • Jets 20 Texans 16

It's Halloween, and the Jets will be disguised as a competent football team and win this game, giving fans some false hope heading into November pain.

Sunday at 1

  • Dal +2.5 (o/u 52)
  • Cowboys 23 Falcons 20

This is a made-for-Sunday upset; that is not an upset. The Falcons are consistently inconsistent. The Cowboys play better on the road and will win this outright.

  • Den +9 (o/u 45.5)
  • Ravens 24 Broncos 18

The Ravens stumped their toe last week in Cleveland. When they are on, they can beat anyone, but they have rarely been on all cylinders this season. The Broncos have a solid defense and should be able to keep this game somewhat close.

  • Buf -6 (o/u 49.5)
  • Bills 51 Dolphins 11

The Bills have dominated the Dolphins over the last eight years, winning 15 of 17 matchups. The Dolphins are an unmitigated disaster. They have been bad at every aspect of the game. This one will be ugly and embarrassing. Hopefully, it will finally wake up their comatose owner to fire Chris Grier.

  • Car +7.5 (o/ 43)
  • Saints 27 Panthers 23

The Saints hope Derek Carr can return, but to think they will win by more than a touchdown seems a bit ludicrous.

  • Cin -7 (o/u 46.5)
  • Bengals 37 Raiders 13

At a certain point, it will click for the Bengals, and they will go on a nice run to get back in the playoff chase. Against the Raiders, at home seems like the perfect launching point.

  • Cle +1.5 (o/u 43)
  • Browns 27 Chargers 16

This is why they cheered when Deshaun Watson went down. It is silly that the Browns waited so long and dug a deep hole to make the obviously needed change. Expect another big day from Jameis Winston.

  • NYG +3.5 (o/u 43.5)
  • Giants 20 Commanders 17

Call this a gut feeling, but after their dramatic Hail Mary win, I suspect the Commanders will have a letdown at the Meadowlands. The Giants need a win and typically play well against Washington.

  • Ten -3.5 (o/u 38)
  • Titans 27 Patriots 13

Two of the worst teams in the NFL meet. It is hard to imagine the Patriots getting a second straight win, especially with Drake Maye's concussion last week, likely leading Jacoby Brissett to get the start.

Sunday Late Game

  • Chi +1 (o/u 44.5)
  • Bears 27 Cardinals 20

The Bears' Hail Mary loss was deflating, but they should look at the bright side—the fact that they rallied to take the lead after being down 12-0. Expect a bounceback as they get the win in the desert.

  • Phi -7.5 (o/u 45.5)
  • Eagles 44 Jaguars 17

The Eagles are finding their groove, while the Jaguars are a mess and winless on the road. This feels like a big blowout.

  • Det -3.5 (o/u 48.5)
  • Lions 31 Packers 17

The Lions are on a roll. Look for their offense to continue to impress as they shred the Packers and take firm control of the NFC North.

  • Sea +1.5 (o/u 48)
  • Seahawks 27 Rams 24

The Seahawks have struggled at home this year. The Rams have won their last two games, taking advantage of a softer schedule. This game is typically a coin flip, with the home team getting the edge.

Sunday Night

  • Min -5 (o/u 46.5)
  • Vikings 31 Colts 16

The team's decision to bench Anthony Richardson sends a strong message but also shows issues in Indy. The Colts would not have won this game either way, but expect an easy win for the Vikings.

Monday Night

  • TB +8.5 (o/u 45.5)
  • Chiefs 27 Buccaneers 20

The Chiefs may be unbeaten, but their record against the spread is far from perfect. Expect that trend to continue as the Buccaneers are close but not too close to getting an upset win.
