Canada Doesn't Deserve Football After The Edmonton Elks Won A Game In Overtime Because Of A Punt

What...what in the fuck did we just watch right there?

Edmonton and Toronto in overtime. Typically that's a spicy scenario where you'd expect Connor McDavid or Auston Matthews to rise to the occasion and score one of the nastiest goals you'll ever see. But it's the CFL we're talking about here instead of the NFL, so you have the Elks vs the Argonauts. Game is tied 30-30 and the Elks have the punt team out.

You figure to yourself that Edmonton are a bunch of cowards for punting in overtime, and now Toronto will have a chance to win the game. But no. That would only make sense to anyone who has a functioning brain. But this is Canada we're talking about here. Buncha freaks who ride moose to work and think that ketchup flavored potato chips are a delicacy (can't lie, though, they are pretty great). So Edmonton kicks the ball out of the back of the endzone, and somehow that gives them the walk off win.

It's something called a "rouge". You get 1 point for kicking the ball out of the end zone without being returned. Why on Earth you should get a point for that, we'll never know. It makes negative sense to me, but so do most things that Canadians do. It's just disgusting to see a punter have the ability to end a game. It's one thing that American football allows kickers to be heroes and kick walk-off field goals. Personally I think once a game gets to overtime, you should have to score a touchdown to win. But field goals at least require a little skill so I'm willing to concede there. But just punting the ball through the end zone? Imagine if that's how you won the Grey Cup? Sickening.

All I'm saying is we should round up every football in Canada and donate it to underserved communities in America. Because they don't deserve the game up there.
