Taylor Trammell Is Set To Win A World Series Ring Regardless Of Who Wins The World Series

NY Post - Taylor Trammell wins, regardless of whether the Yankees or Dodgers triumph in the World Series.

The former first-round pick in the 2016 MLB Draft spent five games each with both World Series participants this year, which sets him up to receive a World Series ring for his contributions.

MLB teams reward players who contributed to their championship runs, no matter how big — think Aaron Judge — or small — think Trammell’s two plate appearances.

“Because I’m with the Yankees now, I completely forgot,” Trammell, who finished the season in Triple-A with the Yankees, told The Athletic. “If the Dodgers win it, I can get a ring as well.”

Trammell appeared in all of 10 games this season between the two World Series participants and made just eight plate appearances.

Say what you want but good for this guy. Who cares if he barely made each roster and appeared in just 10 games, it's not his fault how the playoff shares work. He shouldn't have to apologize for shit. Listen is it a little but fugazy that he won't contribute a single thing to each franchise when it matters? Sure. Will it be a difficult way to explain in 30 years to his kids and grandkids why he has a World Series ring? Sure. However, that's a tomorrow problem. Right now this guy should celebrate that regardless of what happens in the Fall Classic he's coming out a winner and he shouldn't apolgize to anyone.

Now, on the other hand this does beg the question should the current format of rings be as it's currently constructed that EVERYONE gets a ring. Should we reduce a World Series ring's significance that Ohtani and Trammell will each have the same ring? I think there should be a bit of a change to the process that you have to appear in 20 games or 30 games,

While it is great for a guy like Trammell, and if it was me in that situation I would take my ring and be proud of it, I do think there's something to being part of a championship team which he clearly wasn't. I would get it back to where only players on the playoff roster get rings, or players who hit a certain number of games to keep the integrity, but again if I was Trammell I wouldn't apologize for shit.
