A German Pizza Place Changed The Game, But Got Busted For Selling A Special Pizza That Came With "A Side Of Cocaine"

AP - German police busted a pizzeria in the western city of Düsseldorf that also delivered a side order of cocaine when customers asked for item number 40 on the menu.

“That was one of the best-selling pizzas,” criminal director Michael Graf von Moltke told reporters in Düsseldorf.

He said police was first tipped off by suspicious food inspectors in March. When drug squad officers began observing the restaurant they soon discovered why pizza number 40 was so popular, Moltke told reporters on Monday, German news agency dpa reported.

When police buzzed the apartment of the pizzeria manager, the 36-year-old allegedly threw a bag of drugs out of the window, which “fell right into the arms of the police officers,” Düsseldorf police said. The bounty included 1.6 kilograms (3.5 pounds) of cocaine, 400 grams (14.1 ounces) of cannabis and 268,000 euros ($290,378) in cash.

A great little story involving a pizzeria in Düsseldorf, Germany, that was slinging more than just pepperoni and mushrooms. Apparently, if you ordered "pizza number 40" off the menu, you got a little something extra to sprinkle on top.

And get this - it was a freakin' bestseller!  This tells me two things: 1) This piazzaolo must have had a better connect than Derek Foreal, and 2) this pizza (and blow) must have been absolute fire. We're talking pure disco shit.

I mean, who needs garlic knots when you've got a gram of coke?

The cops got wise to this whole operation when some food inspectors got suspicious.  Probably saw a dude walk out of the joint with white powder all over his face and thought, "Hmm, that's not parmesan..."

Anyway, the cops raided the place, and the manager, in a move straight out of a Looney Tunes cartoon, chucked a bag of drugs out the window…right into the arms of the fuzz.  Talk about having the situational awareness of a goldfish.

But here's the kicker: after a few days in the slammer, the dude reopens the pizzeria and starts selling the coke-pizza AGAIN!

Police said the restaurant manager, who was released from detention after a few days, soon reopened his business and started selling pizza number 40 with the the cocaine side order again. That gave investigators an opportunity to look into the supply chain and after several weeks, some 150 officers busted an entire drug ring in western Germany, arrested three suspects including the 22-year-old head of the drug operation, and raided homes and businesses of another 12 suspects.

Eventually, the cops busted the whole operation, taking down a drug ring that was probably supplying half of Düsseldorf with their party favors.  They found cannabis plantations, weapons, and  a shit ton of cash.

I don't know who was ballsier, the pizza store owner for giving no fucks and going right back to selling Pizza #40 fresh out of the slammer, or the customers who had to have known the cops cracked down on the operation, but still had to have their fix.

My only assumption is that this stuff burned at 187 degrees. Fuck me running.

p.s. - Dave, if you're reading this, I think you've found your next pizza review. Finally, a place that can outscore Monte's.
