Haason Reddick Ends His Holdout And Is Set To Join Jets Next Week

SOURCE - Reddick ended his contract holdout Sunday, the standout edge rusher's agent told ESPN's Adam Schefter, agreeing to an adjusted contract with the Jets.

Reddick will report to the Jets on Monday morning. The two-time Pro Bowler will receive the remainder of his 2024 base salary -- approximately $9 million -- plus new incentives that will allow him to recoup the $12 million he lost in fines. By rule, a team can't waive offseason fines.

It feels like every week, the Jets keep adding players to the roster. We still haven't see Davante Adams play a snap with the Jets and we'll (maybe) get Haason Reddick in there next week. My concern is that it might be a situation of too little, too late?

I don't think it's too dramatic to say the Jets season hangs in balance with tonight's game against the Steelers. If they lose, they drop to 2-5 and that's a very difficult hole to get out of especially in the deep AFC. If the Jets can win, they get the horrid Patriots next week and 4-4 looks almost probable.

Of course, most Jets fans are also Mets fans and Game 6 of the NLCS will be going on at the same time. There is a chance that the two teams I care most about will have their post-season dreams end on the very same night.

The Jets really need Reddick. Jets defense has gotten to quarterbacks for 20 sacks this season which is tied for 3rd in the NFL but that's a little misleading. First, the Jets haven't played their bye yet so they have played one more game than some other teams. They also lost star defensive end Jermaine Johnson in Week 2 so getting Reddick will help deal with that loss.

Hopefully we are getting a Reddick that is in shape and ready to go. His agents at CAA dropped him last week and he signed with Drew Rosenhaus who got a deal with the Jets pretty quickly. Was CAA the problem all along? Is he actually in NFL shape?

Is Reddick alone going to save the season? No. The main problems with the Jets exist within the offense. But with a new head coach, new offensive play caller, Davante Adams and now Reddick, maybe that will be enough. It better be because they need to start winning right now.

I just hope when Haason Reddick actually suits up for the Jets, the games are still meaningful. Getting Reddick on a 2-5 team is like putting lipstick on a pig or giving me a fancy makeover. There are much bigger issues that need to be fixed.

Let's go Mets. Let's go Jets. Tonight is going to be four hours of anxiety.
