It's Time To Talk to Your Children About Indiana Making the College Football Playoff

Indiana began its first football season under Curt Cignetti with a win total of 5.5. The Hoosiers are going to end today 7-0, however, and it's time to start accepting the possibility that we will see this team in the College Football Playoff.

The Hoosiers' remaining schedule consists of home games against Washington, Michigan and Purdue as well as road trips to Michigan State and Ohio State. I'd be surprised if IU is an underdog in any game other than that game in Columbus, which the Hoosiers can obviously lose and still be fine. A second loss would likely put them right on the cut line with a Big Ten schedule that didn't end up being too tough, but this team is going to be in the conversation at the end of the season.

And if Indiana somehow does find a way to get into the Playoff in Cignetti's first season coming off a 3-9 campaign in 2023, his "Google me" comment at his introductory press conference is going to be a college football all-timer.

I don't know what percentage of college football fans could even tell you who Indiana's quarterback is. But everybody better wake up now, because these guys are for real and they have a more than reasonable path to the CFP.
