Good Times: USMNT Looks Like Complete Garbage Against Mexico, Now Mauricio Pochettino Is Begging Fans For Patience So He Can Fix The Disaster

Alright if you didn't stay up late last night, well, you didn't miss shit. The US sucked and played one of the worst games of soccer I've seen in a long time (at least since Copa America). Sure, we didn't have the following players: Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna, Chris Richards, Ricardo Pepi, Sergino Dest, Weston McKennie, Tim Weah, Flo Balogun and Tyler Adams, but it doesn't really matter to a degree. It's also why Poch is saying this:

[Source] - "Give us time, let us evaluate all the players, have them, know them, and from there I will give you a better opinion about what is much more fundamental than what I see."

"We wanted to win. I think we need to be positive about this type of game. We need to play more games like this to improve the knowledge that we have."

So let's talk about it. Is it fair to give Pochettino this sort of patience as he takes over the US team near the lowest we've seen this group? It's fair to say he has to evaluate who he wants out there, figure out wha the lineup should be and who he wants to build around (besides Pulisic). This is what we had last night:

I know Sargent has been good at Norwich. I know Pochettino has talked about he's looking at the guys who are playing well and playing minutes at the club level. But there's something about Sargent in a US jersey that just isn't working out. Reports are saying that Balogun is out at least 2 months with a shoulder injury and we have games coming up in November. So what do you do? I think you move Sargent back to the 3rd role for now. Let Pepi play, give Vazquez a chance and then re-evaluate that starting 9 spot. It's probably the most important decision that Pochettino has to make going forward. It's been the biggest struggle for the US team the last few years.

Now how did we lose last night? First we couldn't keep possession, we couldn't complete a pass and then after about 30 minutes we simply gave up with this C team. Here are the goals:

One rocket from Raul Jiminez and then a Tim Ream mistake. That's problem number 2. We gotta figure out what to do with the Tim Ream spot. He's not part of the future, he's not going to be at the World Cup, he's 37 years old. Pochettino is set with Antonee Robinson playing on the left side and pushing up the flank, it morphs how the base system looks. You have Chris Richards in the middle and then Dest when he's healthy probably out there too. But you gotta figure out the Tim Ream situation.

We also can't count on guys being healthy. Reyna, I'm looking right at you here. So does Pochettino deserve some patience? Sure. But if we keep having games like this it's going to go away fast. It's the first loss in 9 matches against Mexico. We have dominated them lately and have been better than them. But it's time to figure shit out because there's not that much time.
