'They Hired The Perfect Guy' - John Calipari Showed Up To SEC Media Day And Finally Admitted That Kentucky Is Better Off Now That He Left

Look, my hands are tied. I don't want to give John Calipari credit right now, but I have to. Even he had to admit that Kentucky is in a better spot without him and that we hired the perfect guy for the job. You need to be a specific kind of person for Kentucky, you don't really understand it unless you're around the program or state or anything like that. There isn't another place like Kentucky.

Now I choose to not be vindictive here. I could blast John Calipari for losing to Oakland and St. Peter's. I could blame John Calipari for not getting out of the first weekend since 2019. I could blast John Calipari for refusing to adapt, refusing to play his best players and constantly making mistakes. And I easily could make fun of John Calipari for being scared of showing up to media day:

I could have swore that was a Grier tweet until I saw it 100 other times. Not shocking that Cal is a little scared to talk to the media. He only talks when he can dictate conversation. He has to say his own thing. So, yeah, I'm still pissed considering he's an enemy. He's at SEC media day, you know the same conference Kentucky plays in. But even he has to know he wore out his welcome, alienated the fanbase and stopped providing any sort of wins that mattered. Let's say Cal stayed, what are we looking at this year? Another year with a ton of recruits coming in, probably a couple shitty losses in the regular season and him saying nothing matters until March. Then come February he gets a little winning streak before losing miserably in March. Been there, done that.

Oh and I'm like 99% sure he's doing this strictly because he saw Pitino back at Kentucky. He knows he wants to come back in a few years and get greeted like that. We won't forget 2012 or the 2010-2019 run. But right now? No cheers. Only boos. He saw Pitino come back home and there's no doubt in my mind Calipari will always keep that rivalry alive.

So good on Calipari for knowing the right thing. We're better off without him around. We hired the right guy, in fact we hired the perfect guy. See you on February 1.
