The Mets Bats Go Limp While The Dodgers Walk And Hit Their Way To A 1-0 Lead In The NLCS
Well that fucking sucked. It sucked in the first inning when Kodai Senga couldn't buy a fucking strike. It sucked in the fourth inning when the Dodgers padded their lead to 6-0. And it sucked in the ninth inning when the Mets decided they weren't going to give us yet another unbelievable late inning win that we'll be telling our grandkids about right now.
Despite all that sucking that even Heather Brooke would be amazed by, I still feel alright. Sure I would've loved a little magic or at least a sign of life from the bats, other than that little "rally" that instantly ended when Jesse Winker committed a double doozy of boneheaded baserunning mistakes. But we learned some things tonight.
We learned Senga probably doesn't have it and can't be trusted for the rest of the series. We learned that not every game is going to be a legendary game, which actually may be a relief for the hearts of the people in the Gambling Cavs after 10 days of chaos. And we learned that the Dodgers have a super long scoreless streak along with a relatable superduperstar in Shohei Ohtani and a manager that is more lovable than Jesus BECAUSE THE DODGERS BROADCASTER IS SOMEHOW ABLE TO PUSH THAT PROPAGANDA DURING AN NLCS GAME BECAUSE HE'S FOX'S NUMBER 1 BASEBALL GUY WHICH IS A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT.
Okay, sorry for getting upset there but that was a tough watch for us Mets fans and Frank The Tank Fleming has me believing that Rob Manfred is watching these games with a Dodgers jersey on.
Luckily if this Mets team has taught us literally nothing else, it's that you gotta believe, not only when things look the darkest but especially when that's the case. There isn't another pitcher on the Mets I'd want on the bump for Game 2 more than Sean Manaea and the Dodgers going with a bullpen game could yield dividends since they are due to let the floodgates open after being lights out for damn near three straight games, right? RIGHT?!? PLEASE SAY RIGHT!!!!!!
Alright that may or may not be the case but at least these stats make me feel better.
Now it's time for the Mets to pick themselves up because they have a game at 1 PM local time. Win Game 2 and come back to what is going to be a raging Citi Field with homefield advantage. We didn't come all this way with all these memories for it to fizzle out with games like tonight.
Gotta Believe.
