ANOTHER Georgia Football Player Has Been Arrested, This Time for Battery on an Unborn Child

Dawgs247 — Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young was arrested by Athens-Clarke County police on Tuesday morning on misdemeanor charges of battery and assault on an unborn child. Per jail records, Young was booked at 4:18 a.m. on Tuesday morning and is currently incarcerated as of 8:30 a.m.

UGA has not responded to a request for comment on Young's arrest.

A transfer from Miami, Young has played in all five of Georgia's games this season. He has 11 receptions for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns, with his most productive game being a 3-reception, 57-yard outing against Alabama two weeks ago.

The good news for Georgia is that it's been nearly a month since it last had a football player arrested for reckless driving, which has to be nearing a program record under Kirby Smart. Unfortunately, the overall arrest timer reset to zero on Tuesday when wide receiver Colbie Young was arrested for battery and assault on an unborn child.

I just want to know what is going on in that locker room. I have to believe Smart and the rest of the coaching staff have addressed this multiple times now, but it doesn't seem like the players have any intentions of staying out of trouble. The UGA football program is singlehandedly boosting the local economy by making the Athens-Clarke County Police Department hire more officers to keep up with the demand.

Georgia has had at least 25 driving-related arrests or citations since a January 2023 car crash that killed offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy in addition to now two assault incidents this season — wide receiver RaRa Thomas was dismissed from the team following an arrest for battery and cruelty to children in July.
