I Got A Strange Feeling That Maybe The Chicago Cubs Might Have (Possibly) Made A $40,000,000 Mistake

I don't want to make a huge deal about this but same time I need to get it out there inbetween games 1 & 2 of Mets/Brabes.

I think people might have forgotten that Craig Counsell got $8,000,000 to manage the Cubs this year to the exact same record as David Ross with objectively more talent. And more money. That's the important part

Wayyyyyyyyyy more money

Personally I hate to complain about other men's incomes because it's nobody's business. But we FIRED David Ross to get here. The Cubs initiated a break up only to do the exact same: win 83 games, get smashed by the Milwaukee Brewers, raise prices along the way.

We're encroaching on the decade reunion for the World Series roster and it honestly feels like a century ago at this point.

Again I don't want to make a huge deal or bitch and whine and piss and moan and complain too much. But I'm compelled to emphasize that I find it to be absolutely un fucking believable that the Chicago Cubs are in this position.

The 3rd or 4th most valuable franchise in MLB is lighting Swiftie candles with one month left to play. Like that was a real talking point around the clubhouse for a good hot minute.

Now imagine this guy from December 2023 talking about a candle vs….. I don't know how about some fucking bullpen help?

The Buzz was so palpable

Local Media ate it up

Others said WAIT JUST MINUTE

Obviously I'm biased historically because I love David Ross, but this is more about Counsell being statistically no better and arguably even worse if you consider talent and winning streaks.

The bigger point is that we (The Cubs) poached a fake rival's manager, stabbed our guy on the way out, promised a brighter future then finished 10 games behind said fake rival. That's the bigger point and it's something I will need a World Series trophy to forget.

Alas, that waits until next year. For now we got Mets vs. Braves to determine the Diamondbacks' destiny. Who doesn't love baseball this time of year?

Now just imagine if you're team is good enough to be there. What a fuckin dream.
