Derrick Rose Took Out A Full Page Ad In Cleveland's Newspaper Today Because He Played 16 Games With The Cavs In 2017

So I know it hasn't hit the Barstool blog yet but Derrick Rose has officially retired. It's not my story to tell from the Chicago perspective, so I'll wait for White Sox Dave to get over his hangover from the big walk-off winner last night that staved off his team's historic 121st loss. I guess until then I'll just refresh White Boy Rick's twitter page to hear about how a kid from Englewood getting drafted completely changed a lanky 9-year-old with a mediocre jump shot from suburbia's life. How the greatest player of his generation was able to miraculously bank in a buzzer beater and lead the Bulls to a 2-1 series lead over Cleveland one time in the playoffs.

Okay, that was an unneccesary shot at Rick. Full transparecy, my newest favorite hobby is chirping him in a blog that I know he's going to click on, only for him to find out that Derrick Rose never made the NBA Finals his ugly mug is in it. Anyways, speaking of Cleveland and Derrick Rose, how about the fact that he took out a full page ad in the Cleveland Plain Dealer this morning to thank the fans?

I'm not crying, you're crying! And THIS is why Derrick Rose will always be above Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal on my all-time Cleveland Cavaliers list! Side note: autocorrect simply won't allow me to spell Dwyane that way. Thank god he was born while Doctors were still using pen and paper instead of iPads! Either way, back to the topic at hand. Classy move from Rose, as I heard he did it in the New York Times too. Thanking everywhere that his basketball journey took him, no matter how long. It is a damn shame that his career was plagued by injuries, because he truly was a treat to watch play.

Damn that motherfucker was good. I remember watching him lead the Bulls to 62 wins in the regular season, winning the MVP at 22, and thinking to myself….wow, is this kid really going to go toe to toe with Bron for the next decade? But the injury bug couldn't stop biting him, Bron moved from place to place wondering why his teammates were always the problem despite playing with no less than a million Hall of Famers, and the rest is history.

Congrats on a great career, Cleveland Cavalier legend, Mr. Derrick Rose. 16 games played, 9.8 ppg, and was a piece of the trade with the Jazz that brought Rodney Hood and George Hill to Cleveland. Hang the jersey in the rafters.
