Deshaun Watson Says He Didn't Throw It To The Wide Open Player On 4th-And-1 Because He Was The Decoy
So the Browns turned in quite honestly one of the most embarrassing performances on Sunday that I've seen in my lifetime. Touchdown favorites at home against one of the worst teams and worst quarterbacks in the league, and we go up 7-0 within seconds due to them fumbling the opening kickoff, and then we proceed to get our ass kicked every which way. And while there's a million things we can point to that would showcase why we lost the game, one clip that everyone wants to revisit is this 4th and 1, in which Deshaun had a wide open Jordan Akins to his right, ready to catch a pass for an easy 1st down that a 3rd grader could've thrown it was so wide open due to Jerry Jeudy's slant occupying his defender. I mean, look at the space here.
And all we needed was 1 yard! But Deshaun elected not to throw him the ball, despite kinda looking exactly like he's staring him down waiting to see if he could be open. And the fan base got all pissy and posted it online no less than a million times over the last 3 days.
Well, today Deshaun Watson spoke to the media and addressed everyone's question: why didn't you throw the ball to the wide open player you were looking at on 4th and 1. And his answer? His answer was marvelous. You guys don't know ball.
The decoy! You all fell for the decoy! Jordan Akins was supposed to fool the defense but he fooled the entire fan base as well!
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? I get that the first read could be the slant, but you are a god damn quarterback in the NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE that gets paid very well to do absolutely jack shit. So maybe if your read of the slant has 2 guys on it, could you possibily look at the guy next to him to see if he's wide open? Beause news flash: HE WAS!
I'm so done with this team. I have zero hope and zero optimism. I am an Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Guardians fan for the rest of the fall. And as for the Browns, I'm going back to my roots, what I looked forward to my entire childhood: the NFL Draft. Which QB are we bringing in next year, baby? Or do we pull the double tank for Arch?
