Big Win For Us Olds Everywhere: The Legendary Game Backyard Baseball '97 Is Officially Coming Back, Can Be Played On October 10

A month ago I talked about all the clues about Backyard Baseball coming back. Well, good news for us olds. We're getting it soon.

It's not as important as College Football 25 coming back, but it's the next tier. This is how important the game was to us in the 90s. You knew the names Pablo Sanchez, Pete Wheeler, Ernie Steele, Dmitri Petrovich, the Khan brothers and everyone else. Well, we get to relive our childhood on October 10 by playing this on our computers again. I know there have been things out there where you can play versions of this before, but this is the official game. It won't have the MLB teams or players, but you get to be a Humongous Melonhead again. That matters to people. Same goes for the backyards to play in. I was always a fan of playing Steele Stadium. Give me a real backyard setting.

That said, I'd argue that Pablo Sanchez is one of the most recognizable and important video game players we've ever had. We know about Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl or Michael Vick in Madden or some of those others but Pablo is up there. He's a name that everyone still knows and that man will light up any park in Backyard Baseball. I also hope this can only be played on computers going forward. That's how it was in the 90s. You'd hit up Toys R Us, go get your copy of the game and then play it on your family computer before it got littered with viruses for some reason. I don't want the GameBoy or PS2 version, just the computer one.

Another big win for olds who want to relive the childhood. Bring back all the Backyard series, bring back college basketball since you have college football. Need all the games we grew up to be remastered and put back out.
