This Pickleball Winner Is As Ruthlessly Diabolical As Finishing Moves Come

Every time pickleball gets brought up, there's always going to be a few uninformed dipshits who think they could be the best player in the world with just a few months of training. To be fair, it's not just with pickleball but with almost any niche sport. The world is filled with overly-confident morons who wildly overestimate their athletic ability because they made their high school football team.

And sure, you might be able to go out to your local park and quickly start to beat up some Donna's and Jerry's out there on the pickleball court. But like everything in life, there are levels to pickleball. So while you're beating a bunch of retirees at the park, The Orchard in Scottsdale, Arizona has some of the best pickleball in the world being played. I say some of the best because there's still an entire level above what's going on here.

But when you have guys like this Ryan Trefry cat out here breaking out the behind-the-back walkoff winner in the Arizona Pickleball League, well that's like Patrick Mahomes letting one fly with his left hand. Not necessary in the slightest, but diabolical nevertheless.

Sidenote: I was just at Major League Pickleball in NYC over the weekend. There are still plenty of hurdles in the way for pickleball as far as being a televised sport goes. But in terms of overall experience going to see it live? It's as good as it gets. Thousands of fans right on top of the players, non-stop action, quick games to make sure you don't zone out.

I'm willing to admit there are aspects of pickleball that don't translate great on broadcast. But I'd love to see anyone go to an event in person and not leave as a fan.
