Rowdy Tellez Needed 4 More Plate Appearances To Cash In A $200,000 Bonus.....But Was DFA'd By The Pittsburgh Pirates With 6 Games Left

What a pathetic, lowly, scumbag move by the Pittsburgh Pirates front office here. Rowdy Tellez was literally one more start away from cashing on his plate appearances incentive that would have made him another $200,000. It was right there.....and then the Pirates DFA'd him.  What a fucked up move to pull. The Pirates have an awesome stadium, one of the best young pitchers we've ever seen, great fans, and god awful ownership and front office members. 

This is such a bush league thing to do. This is a John Angelos thing to do, this is a Dan Snyder thing to do, this is a John Fisher thing to do. What a lowlife move. 6 games left and you couldn't give Rowdy 4 more plate appearances? That's horse shit. 

His season wasn't great at all, .243 average with 13 home runs, 56 RBI and a .299 OBP. That's who Rowdy is though, but you edge him by getting him 421 PAs and the yank the carpet out from under him? I mean no free agent who is with whoever his agency is will ever sign there again. Why would you want to subject yourself to that? Such a shady move to pull if you're the Pirates. Pay the man his money and let him be. If you own a sports franchise and make billions of dollars but refuse to pay a guy $200,000 you should be forced to sell the team. Lets hope the players union steps in here and makes an even bigger fool of the Pirates.

And check out the BS excuse from Derek Shelton! I know Shelton is just passing along the company line but look at this, I mean it's a joke. You DFA him for a guy who is 5 months younger than Tellez? Not even like you're bringing up a legit superstar or some highly regarded prospect. What a mess this is. 

Pulling the bait and switch like that is nasty work, they likely worked that incentive into the contract knowing they'd send him out before he even sniffed that money, that is awful stuff. His agent has to be pissed, Rowdy has to be pissed. I wonder if they can file a grievance against Pittsburgh for pulling this move.  Bob Nutting truly is a snake and this shows it. 

I hope there is a ton of backlash and they end up cashing Tellez out because this is a clown move by a clown owner. Sell the team if the idea of rewarding your guys makes you that sick man, Tellez should at least be able to go a round or 2 with bare knuckles vs old man Nutting, he deserves that. What a gross, disgusting way to end the season for the Pirates.
