"No One In The NBA Is Scared Right Now Of The Boston Celtics" - The NBA Season Hasn't Even Started Yet And Kendrick Perkins Is Already Playing The Hits

I have to admit, I am still riding high from the Celts Media Day earlier today. We haven't had this amount of pure unfiltered Celtics porn for months now and I can't lie, it feels great to be back. I haven't stopped smiling since 10am this morning and I have no plans on stopping anytime soon.

Aside from Media Day, there are additional signs we're inching closer and closer to the start of a new NBA season. For example, we haven't even had a preseason game yet and wouldn't you know, Perk is already on ESPN playing the hits

Now, before we dive into this, we should start by saying Perk is right. Repeating as Champs is extremely difficult. In a league that has never been filled with more talent, it's not an accident that we haven't had a repeat champ since the Warriors back in 2018. There is certainly no guarantee the 2024-25 Celts pull it off because let's be honest, winning one title was hard as shit.

Outside of that? I suggest you buckle up for what is going to be another long season of these type of silly rants/takes. We got it all in this clip. The rest of the NBA got better, the Celtics had an easy path to a title, nobody is scared of them etc. That might sound familiar to you because well….Perk has already played this card before

Call me crazy, but maybe they should? I'm not a big math guy, but I'm of the belief that finishing the year with the 6th best scoring differential of all time, as well as this body of work

suggests that maybe, just maybe this is a team that should be feared. All this talk about how nobody is scared of the Celtics, yet none of those teams are able to beat the Celtics. That's a little odd.

In reality, everything we've seen from teams across the league this summer pretty much disproves this theory. Perk talked about teams like the Knicks and Sixers loading up, we saw OKC do the same thing in terms of adding rim protection and perimeter defenders, MIL added better wing depth etc….why do we think that is? Because they know what we know. That to win a title, you are more than likely going to have to go through these two

and unless you have the wing size/length to stay in front and prevent those two from getting into the paint and forcing you into rotation, you're cooked. Once that happens, congratulations, you have now given a plethora of 40% three point shooters a clean look. As we saw last season, that is not a recipe for success.

This is really no different than what we see after any new champion. When the Warriors were winning their rings, everyone in the league rightfully feared them and did their best to try and build their roster the same way. When the Nuggets won, same thing. Now that the Celts have won, we're seeing teams across the league who have dreams of contending for a title try to replicate their system and roster construction.

A younger me would be triggered by this take from Perk. But an older, more mature me who has now seen Tatum/Brown win a title looks at it more like the Olympics lighting of the torch ceremony. Now we can officially get the NBA season started. As we saw last year, it wouldn't be an NBA season without ESPN saying some completely idiotic shit involving the Boston Celtics, only now it looks even funnier given the season we just experienced.

What will they come up with this year? I can't wait to find out.
