50 STEALS! Shohei Ohtani Is Now Just Two Dingers Away From Becoming The First Member Of The 50-50 Club In Major League Baseball History
Remarkable. Simply remarkable. Shohei Ohtani has now recorded steals in the first inning in back-to-back games, giving him 50 on this magical season. The best player in the National League now has about a week and a half to hit two more dingers to create the 50-50 club. Will we see it? I sure hope so.
It is no secret that the Dodgers are a big draw no matter what ballpark they go to, but this week in Miami has created a ton of buzz in South Florida with Los Angeles in town. These are the announced attendance numbers for the Marlins' last three series during the week:
Monday, 8/19 vs. Arizona - 7,318
Tuesday, 8/20 vs. Arizona - 6,794
Wednesday, 8/21 vs. Arizona - 8,248
Tuesday, 9/3 vs. Washington - 6,854
Wednesday, 9/4 vs. Washington - 6,156
Tuesday, 9/17 vs. Los Angeles - 17,902
Wednesday, 9/18 vs. Los Angeles - 17,138
Thursday, 9/18 vs. Los Angeles - TBD
In fact, I actually made the one hour drive down from Boca to Miami last night to catch the ballgame at LoanDepot Park. I obviously had to check in on the best concession stand in all of baseball...
Hector, the vending manager, said sales are up 15% this season at the Marlins Park Pardon My Cheesesteak Stand. Love to see it.
Anyways, the remaining schedule breaks very nicely for Shohei Ohtani and his quest for 50 dingers. After today's game in Miami, the Dodgers close with a six-game home stand against the last place Rockies and division rival Padres.
If he can't hit the long ball there, three more games at the hitter-friendly Coors Field await next weekend. Two more, Shohei! Two more!
