The PAC Is Back: Pac-12 Adds Boise State and Others To Continue Its Existence

Just when it looked like the Pac-12 had taken its dying breath, it found life support in the form of Boise State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Colorado State.

I assumed a conference similar to this would exist under the Mountain West name with Oregon State and Washington State moving to that league, but I guess the name brand of the Pac-12 was still enticing enough to draw some solid Group of Five schools into the fold and have the conference continue to exist. The league is certainly still looking for more schools to join the new-look league, with names like Memphis and Tulane floated already.

Good for the Pac-12. It's never going to return to being a power conference, but if you can get some more good G5 football programs like Memphis and Tulane, the Pac-12 will at least be competing for the fifth conference champion spot in the College Football Playoff. Adding even just those two schools would make the Pac-12 unquestionably the best G5 league in the country this year.

I'm just glad to see the Pac-12 will continue to exist into the new age of college football. Pac-12 After Dark may now include Boise State traveling to New Orleans, but the spirit will remain and that's all we need.
