Save Us Poch: Everyone In US Soccer Is Calling Each Other Out For Being Soft, Losing At Home To Canada For Just The Second Time Ever
Gotta hand it to US soccer, they did the smart thing. If you lose at home to Canada, do it on a college football Saturday where absolutely no one is paying attention to you. That's exactly what they did. This wasn't a C team or anything like that too. We had our guys playing. It's bad, everything has been bad since Copa America. And now? Yeah, everyone is starting to turn on each other:
I know Marsch is bitter about not getting the US job, but this is still a dagger in the back. He also beat us, so he can say whatever he wants. But the real concerning part? What everyone else is saying. Tim Ream and Christian Pulisic talking about the team needing to show up. The interim coach taking about how the players don't have the mentality to win. I know I joke about the US winning the World Cup, but my God, we should be competitive. We shouldn't be losing these sort of matches, friendly or not. It's the second time EVER that Canada won in the US - the last time we only had 48 states.
And now today is supposed to be the day Poch is officially hired by the US. Good luck. He needs to find a way to get some sort of wins rolling before the World Cup. I'll argue it's the most important World Cup of my lifetime - even more important than 1994. We have a team who again, should compete. Not win the whole thing, but compete. If they fail, everyone is going to be out on US soccer and lose a ton of fans and support. He's at least cleaning house, which is much needed
Now the boys head to Cincinnati for another friendly this week. You need to win and win convincingly. No more ties, no more looking like shit, no more losing at home. We can't blame Gregg anymore, it's time for these guys to show up and someone step up.
