End Of An Era: Alex Morgan Announces Her Retirement From Soccer, Will Play Her Last Match On Sunday
End of an era. Alex Morgan is probably the most famous US women's soccer player, ever? I don't think that's a reach especially when you consider her run through the years. Just a look at some blogs about her in the past:
Shit-talker, swimsuit model, goal-scorer, winner. That's the run I choose to remember Alex Morgan's career by. She's got a gold medal and two World Cup titles, not too shabby. But she was the first women's soccer player I remember where every person knew. Whether it was the dancing, modeling or playing, everyone knew who Alex Morgan was.
I say it all the time, I don't care who puts on the red, white and blue, but the moment you do I want you to beat the shit out of every other team in the world. Morgan did that for the most part. There was a time the US women's soccer team was as dominant as any team out there. You just chalked up a win no matter time or place. 35-years old now and it's time to hang them up. Congrats on a hell of a run, Alex.
