High School Football Ref Makes Immaculate Interception, Immediately Gets Tackled
First off, what a set of mitts on this ref. You think about how many kids each of these schools have on the sidelines who aren't able to make that play. Sometimes the moment just gets too big for those kids and their hands let them down. How many times do you see an easy pick just slip through the hands of a DB because they didn't have the ability to anticipate the ball coming their way? Happens all the time. But this ref was ready, tracked the ball perfectly after the tip, and was able to secure the ball through contact on the way to the ground. Get this man on scholarship.
On the other side of the ball, you have to give that kid credit for trying to take the ref's head off. That's how you play the game right there. Who knows what the rules are in that situation anyway. If you hit the ref hard enough and knock that ball loose, is the ball still live? Does the white team have the ability to get that ball back? Maybe, maybe not. But 6 in white wasn't going to just leave that up to chance. He's been taught to hit anybody carrying the ball who is wearing a different color uniform as him. Traditionally in this sense, it would be anybody wearing a maroon jersey. But he sure as shit isn't wearing black and white stripes, so the ref can get it as well.
Lastly--couldn't end this blog without bringing up this ref's luscious head of lettuce.
Unreal ponytail on this fella. This ref is as punk rock as they come. If I'm a head coach in that area, I'm never throwing a challenge flag whenever this man is on the call.
