The Yak Is Sending Me Across America To Look For Purple Hats Monday
That is how this started.
I went on the Yak while I was doing stuff for Rat Race:Chicago and Nick asked randomly if I would be willing to go look for purple hat then and there. I said sure and myself, Jack McCarthy and Liam Blutman all piled into a car and off we went. I found one pretty quick and went back to report my findings.
I thought it was a job well done and finished. Nope.
Then they built a whole map on the set and I now had a physical obligation to go find these hats and then buy them off people in all 50 states. Big Cat sent me $1,000 so I started buying hats at different states I happened to be in.
I was told my budget for hats would be $50/hat (or $2,500 for the whole country). Every hat would have to be unique so for example, I bought a Colorado Rockies hat somewhere, that's the last Rockies hat I could buy. The hats would also have to be at least 51% purple.
Here some highlights from the first 9 states:
I guess I wasn't going fast enough for them so they called me last week.
So, now I fly to Albuquerque, New Mexico on Monday morning. I'll be meeting Intern Jakob there. He's a nice enough kid but he's also color blind so I don't know how much he'll be in this endeavor. I figure we'll start in New Mexico, head to Amarillo, Texas and then Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After that, it depends how quickly we can knock those three states out. I have to be back in Chicago to present these hats to the Yak on Friday.
I have 9 now. If I'm not at least 17 by Friday, I'll be very disappointed. I know Mark Titus thinks this is very easy. Maybe he could join me next major trip I do. At least he's not color blind.
