Catwoman Is NOT A Superhero And It's A Crime That Catwoman Herself (Zoe Kravitz) Thinks She Is

There's a lot of nerdy arguing that goes on in comic book stores across the world, but one of the main questions you'll hear come up is what makes a superhero. It's usually when talking about Batman, as well.

For example, if you asked 100 people on the street who the most famous superhero ever is, I bet a lot of them would say Batman....but considering he doesn't have any super powers, the question becomes: does that disqualify him from contention? The definition of a superhero is "a benevolent fictional character with superhuman powers, such as Superman" after all.

Personally, I would consider Batman a superhero. I think there's a number of heroes that reach that qualification without powers, such as Iron Man, The Punisher, Falcon, Nightwing, Black Widow, Hawkeye, etc. I think an affiliation with a superhero team like the Justice League, Avengers, or X-Men along with countless heroic acts and stories throughout the years overrides the lack of powers from those characters.

Zoe Kravitz claiming that Catwoman (who she phenomenally portrayed in 'The Batman') is a superhero is where I draw the line, though. I get that as the actress who most recently played Selina Kyle, she's kinda obliged to say that, but I woulda just said Batman if I were her. Catwoman, like Batman, has no powers - but she's also generally written as a thief and straight up villain. She's also been given an anti-hero role, and carries a Robin Hood steal from the rich/give to the poor sorta vibe, and she's briefly teamed up with heroes....but she ain't no superhero herself. I think you could make an easier argument for her being a supervillain.

Unfortunately, because of those factors, I gotta give this W to Channing Tatum - especially after the Gambit shoutout. He may just hate anything associated with cats, though, after this quote....

Side note: I feel like when Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravtiz started dating, people were talking about them like some oddball couple you wouldn't expect to see together - but they seem like two peas in a pod in every clip I've seen of them. I feel like they are one of the more likable and seemingly down to earth celebrity couples we've got right now and I would love to be friends with them. Even just watching them pick out movies from the Criterion closet was very enjoyable….

Oh, and Channing Tatum is actually starring in Zoe Kravtiz's directorial debut called 'Blink Twice' (which is what they've been promoting together recently) and it looks great/is getting great reviews so far….

I promise this isn't an ad, but it comes out on Friday and I'm looking forward to it.
